How Digital Economics built SILOS Hub on Odoo 18 to bring grain-silo operations, human resources and procurement for Egypt’s national silos and storage company into one Arabic-first platform.
About EHCSS
The Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage (الشركة المصرية القابضة للصوامع والتخزين) operates grain silos across some twenty governorates, from Alexandria and the Delta to Upper Egypt and the New Valley. Its work spans grain receiving and storage, commercial operations and quality control, supported by a training center in Barqash. It is a vital link in the wheat storage system that keeps Egypt’s grain supply secure.
The challenge
Running a national silo network means handling grain that arrives by truck, train and vessel, weighing every load, tracking every tonne in storage and dispatching it on plan, while meeting strict government documentation rules. Like many public-sector organizations, EHCSS relied on official paper forms, separate spreadsheets and manual approval chains.

The solution: SILOS Hub on Odoo 18
We designed SILOS Hub as one platform built on standard Odoo 18 apps (HR, Payroll, Accounting, Purchase, Inventory, Project, Fleet, Documents and Sign) and extended with a dedicated module for EHCSS’s operations.
Grain silos operations
- Receiving cards: every truck, train carriage or vessel load moves through a weighbridge workflow, from weight-in to closing, capturing net weight
- Vessel trips: imported cargo organized by voyage, with a distribution plan for each silo
- Dispatch: outgoing plans per customer and product drive disbursement cards and consolidated receipt notes
- Variance control: weight differences automatically create shortage, surplus or damage records
- Inventory and storage billing: closed cards post to Odoo Inventory with tranche lots drawn first in, first out, so storage claims age each tranche from its own intake date
- Integration-ready: weighbridges, port and transport systems can exchange data through Odoo’s standard external API
Human resources
- Government employee profile: grades, promotion decisions, licenses, declarations and qualifications in one record
- Automatic promotion matrix: next grade and due date calculated for every employee, with expiry alerts
- Discipline and appraisal: a violations and penalties archive and a monthly performance appraisal with multi-level sign-off that feeds payroll incentives
- Payroll and attendance: Egyptian payroll, attendance with reward time off for extra hours, and government leave types
- Recruitment, medical care and training: managed in the same system
Procurement and administration
- Requests to purchase orders: internal item and purchase requests with department, technical and warehouse review, then financial approval by authority level
- Vendor selection: RFQs, tenders, and technical and financial evaluation before award
- Cost control: expenses charged to vehicles or work locations as cost centers, with heavy-transport cost reporting
- Official documents: more than 150 printable, government-format documents and reports with electronic signatures
How we delivered
We followed our customer-centric implementation methodology: standard Odoo first, customization only where EHCSS’s regulations require it. The interface is fully Arabic, every role sees only what it needs, and the platform has grown through continuous releases since December 2025, backed by an automated test suite.
